The Tappan Zee Power and Sail
Squadron presents The Squadron's Public Boating
Course, including lessons on boat handling and
seamanship, regulations, safe boating, marlinspike and
weather; basic navigation and engine troubleshooting,
piloting and sailing; navigation rules, marine
radiotelephone and boat trailering.
Course registration begins
Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 7:00 pm. at
the McArthur Barr Middle School in Nanuet, New
York. This course, upon successful completion,
meets New York State and New Jersey Certification
requirements for boats and (PWC) personal watercraft
operation, and also meets the requirements of most other
states.
Please contact the Ken Lemm,
at 845-735-6993 for more
information.
Our member instructors are all
volunteers and are not paid, thus, there is no cost
for the instruction, but course material (color
textbook & navigational tools - course plotter and
dividers) are required to be purchased by each student.
If other persons living in the same household enroll and
can share the navigation tools, there is a small
added text book cost for each additional person. The
navigation tools will ultimately be used for navigation
on your boat, and therefore are not only for this
course. Checks in payment for textbooks material are
preferred, and should be made payable to Tappan Zee
Power and Sail Squadron.
